beautiful day for a wedding

I know I’ll never marry,
but I have the dress picked out,
saved in a folder in my notes.
it’s long & slim & has lace sleeves.
It’s next to the diamond ring
in my size that will never know it’s
way around my finger.
And the baby names I’ll never get to use
because by the time I try, i’ll be too old
to bare children and will never get to choose
the one I loved most.
the fairytale ending I dreamed of as a kid,
won’t be put to paper,
never printed in the books
to read throughout generations.
it’ll just be me,
sitting at home staring at photos
of beautiful brides & cute babies that aren’t mine
