how does your body just know?

I hadn't heard from you in days,

days that felt like an eternity.

my heart ached and my stomach

turned in on itself every time

I thought of you.

how does my body just know

you aren't thinking of me?

yet, my brain does nothing

but think of you,

wishing you'd feel it too

and maybe I'll become a thought.

how does your body not know

every second you cross my mind,

yet mine will always know when someone

else crosses yours?
