Bible Verses For Singleness

As I wrote in a previous blog post, I'm doing an intentional year of singleness. I am only a week in and it is honestly the hardest journey I've started in a long time. I knew I was going to struggle a little bit, but I didn't realize how tempted I would be to pursue men. I took away temptations - Bumble, Snapchat, and the like to try and make sure I didn't fall back into old habits. I want to take this year to get closer to God, get to know him, and myself, and just become a better Christian. I've been reading the bible from start to finish (I'm currently on 1 Samuel) and have compiled a list of bible verses that have helped me in my single season, but will especially help in this intentional season. Grab a cup of coffee, your bible, and let's dive into the scripture.

1 Corinthians 7:34-35

34 "...An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of the world -- how she can please her husband. 35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord."

Psalm 73:25-26

25 "Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Psalm 27:4-8

One thing have I asked of the Lord,

that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord

and to inquire in his temple.

You have said, “Seek my face.”

My heart says to you,

“Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!

I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! 10 The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Remember, Jesus and Paul were single! It's okay to be single.
